Butter first, always ... then shredless marmalade if it's white, Marmite if it's brown. Not tried treacle, is it good?

Butter + fine sugar!! let the sugar and butter melts on the toast, then spread the mixture. It has to be done immediately once the toast is hot from oven..

cheese,lettuce,tommy sauce,palma ham,ready salted crisps and freshly caught thinly sliced rainbow trout all together in a toast sandwhich served with a fried wild egg on top.Oh yes now that is good food-get those taste buds dancing a merry jig.

When and this is when I have toast, I usually spread butter on it and then add peanut butter. I know this is strange but I like it better this way.
