I'm headed to the caribbean for a couple weeks and want to know the best way to get a tan... obviously sitting out in the sun. But what is the best sunscreen to use..? My parents say SPF 30 but i feel like that is too much. My skin is sort of fair, but it can handle the heat. Thanks for the help.

I would start out with 30 like your parents said, but don't lay out too long. Don't forget, even after you go in from the sun, you continue to tan... so don't stay out in the sun too long thinking you're not getting any sun, because you are.
After using a 30SPF for at least 2 or 3 days, work your way down until you get into the the single digits.
Try not to tan everyday... in between tans, use a sunless tanner, or, get a lotion that adds shimmer. This will give you a healthy glow while you're working on getting dark... so you'll no longer be pasty.
You'll be ready for the Caribbean.
