I am 5 weeks pregnant (from last period) and I've been having severe menstrual like cramps for the last 3 weeks. This morning I had a slight bloody discharge but everything after that were fine again. I'm so worried, has anyone had the same experience??could anyone give me some advice?

the bleeding can be normal, but since you have had cramps along with it you need to get to the doctor asap.

Oh man have I been waiting for this question from someone! YES! Normal absolutely! Its your uterus stretching. Now, if you had it like i did, the cramps were worse then menstrual cramps, I could hardly walk, and just wanted to die. I had that from about 5 weeks pregnant, up to about 25 weeks! So your in for a real treat! :-) And I just knew SOMETHING had to be wrong, because it hurt so bad. But I went to the hospital for it twice, and everything was normal. I had the slight bloody discharge too, it was nothing. So Im sorry to hear your having this pain, but it will stop eventually. Good luck, and congrats! Feel free to keep in touch if you want to or have any more questions.

Crapming early on is usually normal and that spotting could be implantation bleeding, when the embryo implants in the uterine wall...I really don't want to tell you that you have nothing to worry about though because I just went through a miscarriage and I had very severe cramping right at the very beginning. If your cramping doesn't go away, gets worse, and/or you bleed more, call your doctor ASAP or go to the ER.

Hi there. I had very severe cramps with my first baby at about 5-6 weeks. I was absolutely terrified that something bad was happening and kept waiting for a miscarriage. I felt like i was just about to have my period. However, nothing happened at all. I had a bit of brownish discharge and after about week 7 it subsided. If this is your first pregnancy then your body may just be adjusting, hormones floating around. I know it's frightening at this stage in pregnancy as there is very little they/you can do. I would call your midwife if you have one and if not call the doctor to ask for your local midwifes number. In general midwives are very lovely and hopefully she can put your mind at rest. Try and rest as much as possible, rest your mind as well. Worrying can make cramps and aches worse, as you are tense and your body responds. I wish you well hun, look after yourself.
