There has been no theater movie presentation created yet based on the life of the late legendary song&dance performer Josephine Baker yet. There was a made-for-television miniseries in 1991(The Josephine Baker Story)featuring Lynn Whitfield as the performer, who got rave reviews and won an Emmy Award, but that is the only production so far.If Hollywood decided to produce a big screen movie of Josephine Baker's life, who would you pick to play her and why?For those unfamiliar with her history, she was a world renowned dancer, singer, war hero,Civil Rights activist, frontiering orphan savior and so much more in her 69 years! She was a vivacious natural talent on-stage and had a niche for comical improvisation whenever she performed for an audience. She loved entertaining for all who attended her shows. She even did shows to racially unite the soldiers in the volatile color-barrier garrison regions of the WWII American combat forces. She was an inner-driven,true,charismatic,and warm lady.

She was so well known and popular that even the Nazis, who occupied France during World War II were hesitant to cause her harm. In turn, this allowed Baker to show her loyalty to her adopted country by participating in the Underground. After the war, Baker was awarded the Croix de Guerre for her underground activity.
As to who would play her...Halle Berry and Angela Bassett come to mind but I would go with a total unknown actress...probably someone from off Broadway.

As for baker films try:
Sirène des tropiques, La (1927)
Carosello del varietà (1955)
An jedem Finger zehn (1954)
Fausse alerte (1945)
Moulin Rouge (1941)
Princesse Tam Tam (1935)
Zouzou (1934)

Why worry about a remake of her life when you can have the Nubian Princess herself. Au revoir.
