What reason could you have at the age of 60 to want to do this? It's far too late for a circumcision to have any effect on penile cancer. I wouldn't risk it. If you've lived this long with it, it's just not worth the risk.

Circumcision is the procedure that cuts some or all of the foreskin (prepuce) from the penis. The frenulum may also be cut away at the same time, in a procedure called a frenectomy. The word "circumcision" comes from Latin circum (meaning "around") and caedere (meaning "to cut").

Circumcision predates recorded human history, with depictions found in stone-age cave drawings and Ancient Egyptian tombs. The origins of the practice are lost in antiquity. Theories include that circumcision is a form of ritual sacrifice or offering, a health precaution, a sign of submission to a deity, a rite of passage to adulthood, a mark of defeat or slavery, or an attempt to alter esthetics or sexuality. Circumcision of males is a religious commandment in Judaism and Islam, and is customary among members of some few Oriental Orthodox Christian churches in their African countries of origin].

ADVANTAGES OF STAYING INTACT:
--Circumcision cuts WAY down on sexual enjoyment for a man due to loss of nerve-rich foreskin.
--Getting cut causes the glans (head) to develop a keratinized layer to protect from rubbing on clothing, further cutting sensation. Many cut men are unable to ejaculate during intercourse and have to finish "by hand." Intact men can "go all the way."A new study out this past week proves conclusively, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that circumcision decreases sensitivity for the man. http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/abs/10.1111/j.1464-410X.2006.06685.x
--A full 90% of women say sex is better with an intact man. http://www.healthcentral.com/drdean/408/60750.html
--foreskin makes masturbation more fun - and better for your partner to play with.
--Circumcision hurts when it's done, even if you were too young to remember it. At 60 the pain afterwards would be extreme.
--a cut penis looks kind of sad with that scar where the foreskin belongs. Uncut is much hotter looking.
--Circumcision has a slight chance of complications. It is generally best to avoid unnecessary surgery.

ADVANTAGES OF BEING CUT: Circumcision has no advantages that are not fictional
--You can be just as clean if you are uncircumcised. Wash. It's THAT simple. Even if you're cut, you still need to wash.
-- If you're sleeping around, you need to use condoms regardless or you will get diseases.
--most women are sensible enough not to discriminate against uncut guys. If they do, they are too shallow to bother with and totally ignorant of the pleasure they can get from a WHOLE man. See link above.
--Some studies have shown a lower rate of cancer of the penis in cut guys, but this cancer is so rare that it's hard to get a good statistical sample. More boys/men die each year from botched circumcisions than from cancer of the penis.
--Recent reports from Africa say that circumcision reduces the risk of AIDS from unprotected hetrosexual activity. This has little relevance to areas of the world where condoms are cheap, readily available, and culturally acceptable. The US has both a very high rate of circumcision and one of the highest rates of AIDS outside Africa.

It is told that the first human to be circumcised was the prophet Ibrahim (Abraham). This story is told in the Islamic faith. When Prophet Abraham was ordered by Allah (god) to circumcise Abraham was 80 years old. And there was no hi-tech those days, he had to do it himself with as primitive the tools as it gets.

If you are doing this for Allah be sure you will be rewarded properly. But if doctors believe that in your special case it is dangerous, then you should not do it. Never endanger your life, this also is as part of Islam as circumcision is.

Good luck.

60 yrs old and now circumcising? Pros? I see none for a 60 yr old unless you are converting to Judiasm or marrying a Muslim woman. Let's face it...if you are thinking health reasons, you've already lived more than half your life already.

Cons? It'll hurt like hell.

The American Medical Association doesn't recognize any medical benefits for an adult male.

Since you've obviously had good hygiene for 60 years, I can't imagine why you would consider the operation now.

Your sexual arousal/sensitivity will be reduced if you have the operation.

Personally, I find circumcision a bit barbaric. I don't really think you'll find any pros, especially at 60.

If you wind up in a nursing home, it means a male nurse is going to have to wash it for you...
