how do i put songs on my playstation 3?

i have a external hard drive that all my mp3s are on but when i plug it into my playstation 3 it says there are no tracks on the drive???

It may view it as a storage device just as is the case with the iPOD.

If the drive is recognised but you don't see any tracks then press the triangle button when you have the drive selected. A menu will appear on the right of the screen. Select display all. Now you should have a browsable view of the directory structure.
