I've seen and heard women say they're gay (and they love women), some say they're a lesbian. I'm confused. thanks.

Gay refers to a homosexual person and is not gender specific. Wikipedia got lots of information on it, just search the word 'gay'. There are also legal aspects to the word nowadays and I think it is considered 'neutral' and not derogatory. Lesbian is only to describe homosexual women.

Lesbian is a term most often applied to females, whereas gay is a term used for all people attracted to the same sex.

Its not a big deal, however some women like lesbian over gay and vice versa. They both mean the same thing, however Lesbian isn't usually related to males.

There is no difference, it's just two words that mean the same thing. Most gay women just prefer to use the term lesbian.

Actually thats a very good question, I've wondered the same thing. I kinda figure the tags( lesbo, gay, fag, homo) are from our straight society. People seem to be into classifications for everything and everyone. Personally I'm bi but I consider myself gay, because I don't fit what society considers normal. Course most true gays think of me as mostly confused.

There is no difference at all. lesbians are gays but this lesbian term is used for them. They are gay just like a man is.
