What will be the effects(problems) of an aging population on US society in the year 2025?

It has to be in US society in 2025.
If possible, please indicate which institutions have to rethink their mission and how that mission is accomplished in light of a changing population.

Social security will collapse because there will be more older people to take the money. We will obviously need to change something there.

Social Security is one of the major things that will be affected.
The amount of money being paid in is already not equal to the amount being paid out and by 2025 unless something drastic is done, there will not be any funds available.

Medical care, nursing homes and extended care facilities are going to have to come up with a more economical means of providing their services. Medicaid and the elderly population cannot afford the prices now let alone the way they are escalating.

The heads of corporations, hospitals, doctors and pharmaceutical companies are going to have to be less greedy and share the wealth.

The main problem with an agening society is that the working population is smaller therefore there are fewer people paying taxes.

Depending on what your taxes are used for, it's gonna cause serious problems. For example, over here (in Ireland) our taxes are used to pay for new roads and the maintennace of the existing network. (fewer drivers means fewer taxes which means less money to build and maintain the roads).

They're also used to pay for health services and hospital equipment.

And unemployment benefits.

slower traffic stricter laws for old drivers. they tend to pull out into traffic without seeing traffic from either side

euthenasia ; it needs to be solved or let Jack Kevorkian out of jail

more law enforcment to step up protection for the old from identity theft, scammers, and those who prey on the weak etc.
