Every time you eat more thn you can digest at once, you get sleepy, especially if it contains a lot of fat (carbohydrates first give you an energy kick, and then make you hungry, but seldom sleepy). Peanut butter has so many calories that eating even a small quantity can be enough to make you sleepy - and to make you fat! So if you can't sleep, don't try it using peanut butter, it is unhealthy to try to get sleep by overeating with fat. Try drinking a glass of milk, or a can of beer. It will help if you had a bad day and are too anxious to get yourself sleeping. If you generally have problems falling asleep, see a doctor, no peanut buter and no milk will help you then.
