Some of the aswers on here are not very constructive. Look back at the early tours of the England side to Australia when the wives went - excuse me i may be a little old fashioned but the girlfriends would not have openly shared a room or a relationship with their man in those days for the fear of being thought cheap - the wives were well looked after and feted by the Aussies. Too much is made of too few people in sport today and unfortunately it is mainly the partner not actually involved who reaches the zenith and for what - the ability to spend their 'partners' money ??? Take offence if you want but the world would be a much better place if we all worked to achieve and not on the back of someone else !! Rachel Flintoff is a credit to herself, her family, English cricket and to a husband who from time to time needs to be placed in the nursery to play with his children - they would appreciate his abberations more than adults do.

As we know the cricketers have to spend a lot of time on the practice nets and team meetings even when the match isnt on~ adding the fact that GF's usually have a tendency to be insecure *impatient* and they have to be talked to and be reassured all the time, I would reckon a player would feel very overburdened and distracted by having a GF along on a tour unless there are certain privileges a cricketers' companion may be provided from the team management . Wives could be easier to handle but i maybe wrong for each to their own i guess.

There is a good case for the wives to be with their man o the long 3 or 4 month tours. That's a long time to be away from your family. The problem is, where does it end. The World cup is a month long. It's not that long to be away (especially if you get knocked out early!) Then because the wives are going, the long-term girlfriends have a case for them to go as well. If they go, then the short term girfriends want to go. There has to be a limit . Just not sure where it is!

Your question sums up our national team. WAGS on tour should not even be an issue. If they're fully committed to representing our country at the highest level then it doesn't matter if they're with their WAGS or not.
Flintoff is 29 years old - he shouldn't need his Mrs to hold his hand by stopping him from drinking.
To answer your question - I don't think they should be allowed on tour. The playesr should be fully focused on getting the job done. When they have a couple spare hours they should be with their team mates for team bonding. They should be there to win the competition, not for a holiday.

Depends on the girl. Some are a positive influence and others a pain in the butt. Mrs F is a looker so a few pics of her on the beech in the Windies would go down a treat.

Wags on tour? Why? Do you know anyone in your own circle that takes their partner to work with them?
Service personnel have to leave their wags behind don't they? Most of them go for a six month tour.
Players are only gone for a few days/weeks.

yes, there is no doubt.
who care about country, no politicians and no players.
you see when politicians goes to EU and USA tour they are also looking for (gorri chamri) white skin. they are always asking from local friends "is any program today" program is Sexual activities.
cricket they can play in India but they can not get gorri chamri in india because media, some them is married, so they have only a chance for fun when they are far from home.

As in ALL sports, they should be in the hotel knitting, or if the event is in the athlkete's hometown, the wags should be cooking the post-game/match meal!!!

No i dont!!!!
The focus of attention is then on them and not the footballers.
I am sick to death of seeing the WAGS!!! Think they should stay at home and paint their toe nails!
