Im sure this website was intended to help people with genuine real life answers.I thought it was used to help schoolkids,varsity students,people with relevant questions.Do you think yahoo is being spoiled by questions like these :
Does my boyfriend still like me?
I am ___________?
Or very simple questions where it would be faster to check wikipedia than post it.

I'd say there are some questions that might be tarnishing (spoiling) how Yahoo answers should be used. Many of these questions are asked by those seeking attention or wanting someone to take there side or to convince themselves otherwise of the truth on a matter even though its clear that they're not right or "they're boyfriend no longer loves them". Its hard to face reality in these situations.
At the same time, alot of the categories here are there for a reason. I mean jokes and riddles really doesn't belong here because they're not really questions but rather others posting jokes more than anything.
There will always be people around to use things improperly, whether they do it on purpose or not. That's why hair dryers have warnings about using them while showering.

As an asker, I completely understand what you're speaking approximately, however the rubbish solutions are actually not confusing to locate. in my opinion, i don't provide a thumbs down if the answerer has a diverse opinion on some thing, yet i visit if i understand an answer is factually incorrect, completely irrelevant or insulting. till Yahoo unearths a thank you to deter flag abuse, I purely fee solutions to my own questions thumbs up for useful or considerate, and thumbs down for something yet. If i in my opinion want an answer to a particular question, i hit upon that regularly all i'm getting is an concept on the place to look for the respond, which will nicely succeed in itself. often i visit ask questions that don't inevitably have a "desirable" answer, yet questions approximately a concern that i want help getting a diverse attitude on.

I think it was intended as just a fun thing to do. I don't like stupid or crude questions. As far as school kids are concerned, I don't think this site should be used as a tool to avoid doing homework. Telling someone the answers does them a dis-service. How will they learn. And sometimes the questions are out of just plain laziness. You are right about wikipedia. If we can look it up, why can't they.

sure, but people like to interact with other people. One thing to read an answer from a book or website, another to hear it from a live person with personal experience to share.
with the different catagories, it helps sort the questions and people can look at the ones that interest them. not everyone is on answers for serious stuff.

Well if you are cruising the polls and survey area in search of life shaking questions you are in the wrong section. There are sections here for academic questions and if there is nonsense in there it should be cleaned up. Polls and Surveys should be for people that just want to have some fun.

Relevance - well in P&S, I think we are here for fun, not so much a serious time. In other forums however, yes some are serious and some are ridiculously hilarious as you mentioned. I like the ones from young teens sayind "could I be pregnant?"

The polls and surveys category is mainly for fun, but there are
plenty of categories dedicated for those who need help in a particular question.
When you post a question, you are given a choice of categories where you want it to be listed or you can choose your own category....
This whole section, under which polls and surveys is listed, is called ENTERTAINMENT AND MUSIC.....Sometimes it's good just to "relax" and have abit of fun here..... =)

well,if i stay in polls i'll get the my boyfriend questions....and thats what i asked for...but when i want to get serious i go to the social or education sections or give advice to other parents.students can get all that they need here too.so the variety is all in our mouse,ya know?
