do something nice for the planet. you could get them to adopt you an animal. either in its native country.
or buy things for familys in desperate need of help in third world countrys. or you could have a party, and tell the guests to bring you cash instead......have a huge bowl in the room at the begining of the night and donate all the proceeds to a charity for kids a cancer charity or for animals in this country. thank everyone after, but make sure they all know what you're doing before hand.....(they could bring more....)
click on the links below for a look at some of the ideas above.
you can have a really good party with all your friends, and feel HUGELY good about yourself...
ooooh i nearly forgot, don't forget to tick yes to gift aid, for what ever you choose a charity could get an extra £28 for every 100 you raise.

I have been up against this sort of thing myself on occasion. I might suggest a weekend after party, maybe an open house with friends providing food for the do.
As far as presents, perhaps you could think of music, books, or DVDs that would let them buy something special for you.
It is an an honour when or friends want to do for us, I wish you a happy birthday and a good compromise for all concerned.

Romans 15:13; 2 Peter 3:18; Psalm 80 4:11. those are 3 really large verses for ya! The record could go on and on yet see in case you relish those ones as a lot as I do! Lord bless! :)

Sounds like you have it all already, including good friends that want to do something nice for you (you probobly are a good friend to them also and that's why they want to give something to you).
I would simply tell them that you are happy that they care enough to want to do and give you something for your birthday, but you are so satisfied with having them all for friends that there isn't anything in the way of "things" that would be better than just having them be such good friends to you.
You are lucky, sounds like you have your life pretty well together.....By the way, Happy 31st Birthday!!

You could have them donate blood to celebrate your birthday. It might sound strange, but they would be saving lives because of YOU! Or they could sign up at a bone marrow registry and see if their marrow matches someone else's. Again, a life could be saved because of YOU. (They could volunteer or donate $$ if they are squeamish.)
There are many things they could do to celebrate your birthday that would make the world a better place. Think about it!
Good luck!

Okay, so you have already everything you can wish for... so why not helping people who aren't so lucky...
Why not "adopting" a child through "Foster Parent Plan" or some other organisation?
Have a nice birthday!

Invite your friends over and have a small get-together. Tell them you just want to spend time with them without gifts. I have a huge dinner for my birthday every year.

Ask them to donate some money to the humane scoiety in your name. Give to the red cross in your name. There must be charaties in your town they could donate to?
Choose a human project and you are your friends pay their bills for a month.

Perhaps having real friends to spent the day with you doing the things you love would be great! Spending your birthday all by yourself would be lonely and boring......
Friends, good friends are what we need! to make our day!
Happy Birthday!
