yes, but you should show some respect. Man was created first, but God also intended for man to take care of the woman. If you go back to the Bible, you would read that when Eve took the apple, God punished her by making childbirth painful and full of labor. God then punished Adam by forcing him to work the land for food and shelter, blood sweat and tears.....it was all given to them until that fateful moment

It came from the days of chivalry, when women were viewed as weaker and less capable and hence needed to be given an upperhand on certain things.
Logically, ladies first is useless now, since women have gotten quite far in society, but this is still expected, and if a man does not follow these principles, he's considered less of a man.
I think if women want to be considered equals, they need to give up this medieval etiquette.

It's called "chivalry" and the idea of chivalry first started in about the 1100's by knights and troubadors of the Aquitane region of southern France. The idea was that women and womanhood and their honor was to be protected and upheld, and that special deference was to be paid to women who were true "ladies" and that included opening doors for them, etc. and even fighting duels to defend their honor if someone called that into question.
Sayings like "ladies first" or "women and children to the lifeboats first" are remnants of that chivalric code that have persisted to the present day.

man was first, and women complained it is sexism, so now they insist on being first for everything else, typical female mentality.
