I WATCHED A FILM WHEN I WERE A KID BUT CANT REMEMBER THE NAME, I THINK IT STARED RIVER PHOENIX, AND THE PLOT WAS BASICALLY. A TEENAGE GIRL TOOK PITY ON A TOUBLED LAD (RIVER PHOENIX I THINK) AND LET HIM STAY IN THEIR FAMILY HOME, THE FATHER WAS NOT HAPPY AT ALL AND WAS VERY DEFENSIVE AND NASTY TO THE LAD, BUT EVENTUALLY THE 2 TEENAGERS FELL IN LOVE AND THE BOY WON OVER THE FATHERS AFFECTION AND BECAME GOOD FRIENDS AND THE FATHER OFTEN CONFIDED WITH HIM BECAUSE HE HAND INNER DEMONS HE HAD TO GET OFF HIS CHEST. I ALSO THINK THEIR WAS SOME HEARTACHE FROM THE FATHER OVER THE DEATH OF HIS SON AND HIS SONS OLD ROOM WAS OFF LIMITS???? (I COULD BE WRONG ABOUT THAT BIT)
THIS IS REALLY BUGGING ME BECAUSE I HAD DREAM OF THIS FILM WHICH WAS TOO VIVID NOT TO BE REAL SO NEED TO FIND OUT THE NAME OF IT

There is a film starring River as Chris Chambers called Stand By Me. In this film his best friend Gordy had an older brther who was killed and his bedroom was off limits. His parents paid him no attention. Perhaps Mosquito Coast although Harrison Ford was his dad.
Could you be mixing 2 movies up?

He was in the Mosquito Coast with Harrison Ford and Harrison Ford was a bit messed up in the head.
I'm thinking it might have been that one. Or possibly Running On Empty which I think is actually the one you're looking for.

The only movie I've ever seen starring River Phoenix is "Stand By Me", but I doubt that's what you're talking about...
