Our weight can flucuate throughout the day. I have had this happen to me before. So it's possibe this could be what is going on with you. I would recommend checking with your dr to be on the safe side though.

It's good that you are being weight concious, but not so good that you are being overly concerned. If you continue this path, anerexia disease could be chasing you down the road...COOL IT !
To begin with, any weigh scale is subject to error simply for variations in temperature wherever it is placed. When you buy a scale and it is advertised as "certified accurate" it is just an ad and does not indicate perfectionate performance by all means. It is not unusal for a weigh scale used at home to be one or two pounds off even inconsistantly whether it is a digital, analogue or mechanical scale. DON'T PANIC !
Keep in mind that a glass of water is a half pound and that's all it takes for a scale to round off to the lowest or highest reading.
Because most people gain weight so much easier than losing it, it's good to be weight concious. This will promote a constant awareness of having the right diet and the awareness also of whether routine activities are sufficient to maintain a healthy and comfortable weight according to a persons' BMI...the yardstick for individual recommended weight,
The importance of being accurate as possible for daily weight checks can only be achieved if being consistant of the time doing so. The routine, or rut as some may call it, is to awaken in the morning, make use of the toilet, have your bath or shower and immediately step on your scale.
Do not eat or drink anything until after you have weighed in.
Fluctuations of one or two pounds from one day to the next is meaningless. If the numbers are higher or lower than desired and are consistant for several days then obviously they are indicative to reality.
By the way...if you step on your scale and, instead of numbers, you get a message saying "one at a time please", throw the darn scale out the window...it hates you...!
Keep watching, it's good for you and those that look at you.

Typically, instantaneous weight gain is only temporary, and is most likely due to water retention. If your monthly cycle is just around the corner (within the next few days), you are most likely retaining.
All things considered, if your diet didn't change significantly, then I would say your body is holding back some fluids.
I would also like to add that daily fluctuations of weight is fairly typical, so I wouldn't sweat it. Maybe a good idea would be to weigh yourself once a week, at the same time of day?

"Under a pound" isn't significant at all. I can gain a pound by eating breakfast -- or lose one by taking a good dump.
