1. Billy's Bakery: amazing red velvet cake, great cupcakes and individual cake slices as well.

2. Amy's bread: Wide range of cakes, some not-so-common ones like Monkey Cake or Lemon Mousseline. They have a number of locations. I prefer the one in Chelsea Market thanks to the loads of seating.

3. Magnolia Bakery: self-purported king of cupcakes. Long lines and no place to sit, but hard to beat on cupcakes.
