No need to be so scared!

The media played it up a lot. I know. It freaked me out too, at first, and I bought newspapers on it, watched the news, all of that. But that was what the media wanted me to do. They took the news of a close meter and made it into a sensational story that made everyone want to buy/watch/listen/read.

It's not the first one to come close. And it won't be the last. Read this from the link I'm showing you- "On 26 Mar 2007 there were 853 known Potentially Hazardous Asteroids"

There's going to always be chunks of rock flying about out there. On the 11th of this month, there was one that was 10 metres across (not a good size if it intends on hitting us) and came so close to us that it was half the distance to the moon! And yea, eventually one will hit us. But don't panic and get scared about it. It may happen then, it might happen in 500,000 years... no one can predict it yet. But we've survived for a long time, haven't we? We're more likely to kill ourselves off with overheating the planet than to get killed by a meter.

Guess that's why a lot of people find so much peace in religion? If it hits us, we've got somewhere to go afterwards?

But don't worry too much about it. Hollywood and the Media will always play the end of the world story to get money. Just talk to the scientists, the people who really watch and understand this kind of stuff, and enjoy your life.

The experts think not. It may come close but will skid by.They are keeping an eye on it, whether that will help or not I don't know.Where is the Nuclear war bit coming from.Who is going to nuke who?Don't get in a panic or tizzy over things like this. There is nothing you or I can do about it,if we were in some way able to influence these events then we might worry if our actions were the right ones but as it is worrying can not do us any good. We are all in the same boat.

It was only a matter of time before Hollywood's next big blockbuster,a remake of the 1950 George Pal movie"WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE".with Steven Spielberg at the helm will soon be made. The original movie had remarkable special effects for a movie back then. It wasn't a meteor heading for earth but a small star and solitary planet. There is a moral to be told at the end of the movie .It will be interesting if it is part of the new production. So if the meteor does not hit at least you will have seen what happens to the earth colliding with a small star in this movie.

And now, on a lighter note. My theory of the Mayan calender ending is the guy who was the scribe at the time, just sitting there turning out calender after calender, finally got a lunch break. When he came back ,he was re-assigned to another job.He probably just said" Thank god for that", and the calender writing job was never re-assigned to anyone else. An oversight at the management level, no doubt.

Probably not.

Don't worry, be happy and hope that when it or the bomb hits you're at ground zero.

Seriously. You could worry yourself into an early grave thinking about these things. I live by this rule. If there's something worrying me that I can do something about then I do something about it ... end of worry.

If there's something worrying me that I can't do something about, then I stop worrying anyway because it probably won't happen and if it does it probably won't be as bad as I'm imagining. Powerful and creative thing, the imagination.

When it enters the earths atmosphere it will be burned up and by the time it hits the earth, be like a small pebble! And if not, the President has a back up plan in the shape of one Mr B Willis!

Interesting. The Mayans had a complicated calendar; they predicted that the world would end in 2012.
Of course their world ended earlier but you have me thinking now!
No point worrying sweet. If it happens there is nothing any of us can do. Enjoy the "now" and let the future take its course.

As is often the case, the possibility of future Earth impacts for some near-Earth objects cannot be entirely ruled out until the uncertainties associated with their trajectories are reduced as a result of either future position observations, or in this case, heretofore unrecognized, pre-discovery observations. When these additional observations were used to update the orbit of 2004 MN4, the uncertainties associated with this object's future positions in space were reduced to such an extent that none of the object's possible trajectories can impact the Earth (or Moon) in 2029.

It is likely to be speculation or even a Mayan prediction perhaps misinterpreted by man - who knows for sure!

Good for some - Not good for others.

Don't freak out or be worried - just enjoy what time there might be left for us all - what will be - will be - and - it may never happen - Be Happy until your time is up.

There is a very small chance it could hit us. If it passes through a point called 'the keyhole' it will swing towards the Earth and collide with it. This is unlikely though, but it is too early to predict its exact path.
What has nuclear war got to do with it ?
