If the government paid off the drug lords not to import drugs, they would quit, another group would step in, be paid, another group, etc, until we end up like the U.S.S.R. broke and bankrupt. The question you are asking could be translated to:

"Should we pay tribute to the drug lords?" absolutely not.

The supposed WAR on drugs is nothing more than a CASH Cow for the government and is not meant to do anything but bring in revenue.
Punishing drug addition has not and will not ever help the people who are addicted to drugs....and helping them by the way is a hell of allot cheaper...do you agree?

You would think so, yes, since the us has lost the war on drugs, they should be looking for alternate ways of stopping drugs, I think you have touched on a very innovative way of slowing it down.

It would be cheaper and safer for the government to legalize drugs and allow consenting adults to make their own decisions.
