How hot is the sun really?

Well, how hot is the sun really, if we can get sun burns all the way down here, and the sun is like millions of miles away, then how hot could it be up close. They say that scientist's know hjow hot it is, or have found out. Well how the hell could you find out.

The last time they did a consensus on testing was, I believe, 25 million degrees Kelvan, on which I am not sure as to how that translate into Celsius or Farenheit?
We do not get "burned" due to our "atmospheric protection" layers above us in the ozone layers. And there is the VanAllen radioavtive belt that surrounds the planet which in times of "solar flares" helps to bounce away the harmful waves and most of it goes around us and into space. But some do get captured back into the upper and lower hemispheres where the belts are thinner; hence the northern and southren lights.
And "how the hell could they find out"? They do like so many scientists and environmentalists do: They guess!

The surface temperature is around 6000 Celcius but in the atmosphere of the sun around 25 million degrees.

The surface temperature is 5785 K (kelvin, equal to 5212 deg C), while the temperature of the corona is estimated to be 5 MK (ie 5 million kelvin). The corona is the luminous atmosphere of the Sun which extends millions of kilometres out into space.

How they figured this out I don't know, I've read that it is approximately 6000 degrees celsius on the surface, and in the center of the sun it is about 6000000 degrees celsius.
