No matter what I tried I could not resolve this fault until I took the centre out and put it back again. This seems to have rectified the problem. It is'nt easy getting the front back on though.

Try resetting your iPod. Hold the Center and Menu buttons until the apple logo appears.

If you have it in a case or a sleeve, and it's not properly alligned, there might be some slight pressure on the click-wheel that causes it to scroll through the menus.
