I mean like what is their whole point to living?

They are a minor annoyance, but I think we have it pretty lucky in this part of the world. Check out the botse fly that lays eggs under your skin or the hmmm can't remember the name, the fly that lives in Canada that when it bites dissolves away a chunk of your skin (I think black flies, they call em). In tropical areas there is a microscopic worm that burrows into your feet. Plus we don't have to worry about malaria.

Oh Yea, your question.... Everything is here for a reason. No matter how high and mighty we think we are... we are also a part of the food chain, no animal is "above" being eaten.

I know that tadpoles love to chomp on some mosquito larvae.

For the life of me I cannot figure out the purpose of ticks of any kind unless they were created for population control. They are tenacious, nasty things and spread all forms of disease. They only thing I know of that eats ticks is guinea fowl. Mosquitoes are a different matter. Mosquitoes are number one on the dining menu for bats and birds and other insects. They may annoy us but are essentials for the bats and birds. But ticks....

Fly-catchers have got to eat SOMETHING. So do spiders. If they didn't serve a purpose in the food chain, you can bet they would have disappeared LONG ago.
