I am due to graduate at university at the end of this year - Dec 07. The thing i have done is stay at home during my uni years as the uni is an ACCA registered centre - which will make it easier for me to become chartered accountant. However, after graduating in Dec, i want to move away from home. I just wanted to know what life is like on the other side without what i have today?

I was in exactly your position after I graduated last year. I chose to live at home during uni as my it was only a short commute away and it saved a heck of a lot of money. I was feeling exactly as I imagine you are now - nervous and worried but also excited. I can honestly say that when the time comes and you are definitely ready (i.e. you WANT to leave home) then it will be easy. Depending on how far away from home you want to go, you have to remember that your parents won't just disown you as soon as you leave - they'll still be there for you and it will be different but you will feel such a sense of fulfillment in doing things for yourself. I would recommend sharing with a friend you have known for a while - that way you can support each other.

I'm the same, I'm in second year at uni and still live at home, whilest most of my friends are living it up! I can cook, clean, shop, etc. either! I reckon our type will be fine, When you move away you will get used to it quickly because you have to! You can go home at the weekends for the first while anyway if you want! Good luck!

Life can be bloody hard when you first move away from home, i've been there done that! I moved away at 18 to Uni and i was terribly homesick and terrible with money! But you do adjust, it isnt easy at first and there are so many things you have to remember to do (pay rent, bills etc) but you soon adjust and then its great to have your own freedom! Just persevere and you will see its great to live away from home!! Seeing as you're older as you have already nearly finished uni i'm sure you will cope just fine!!
