It is when oxygen is put into the lung for the first time. They no longer are getting it through the aminotic fluid. Plus you would cry too after being in warm fluid for nine months and put out into a freezing cold room..lol

If you are asking why babies cry when they are born, think about it. They have just come from a very warm, comfortable dark place into cold, bright and not so comfy conditions. The birth process is hard on more than just the mother.

Well, its because in the mother's womb, the baby feels warm and nice. but when they are being pushed out, they suddenly feel cold and uncomfortable. That is why they cry and also why doctors usually cover the babies with towels. It is so as to keep them warm.

Delivery time is not only painful and traumatic to the mother but also to the baby.
the baby undergoes a lot of pressure and trauma during this phase.

well it is preobably because the air hitting their skin for the first time is cold, plus it helps the baby clear his lungs of the fluid.
