For me the past is past, what happened there stays there. You judge a person by what you think and feel for them in the here and now, forget old wives tales, it belongs with old wives.
Just be happy, life is short

Gossip is when:
- what you tell you are not sure that it is 100% true
- you can do nothing about it - to solve the matter
- It is of no use to the one who hears it
- It does no good to no one
- you wish you were not in the place of the exposed.
Truth is when:
- you know everything is absolutely true
- you are willing to work towards solution
- the one who hears it is able and willing to help to this direction
- it will be for the benefit of the one you are talking about
- you care about the one you are talking about and you are sure you do not expose personal issues that one would not like to
Harm from gossip, is never forgotten and excused.
Truth might be hard but forgives, gives lessons and permits love to flourish. So, if truth is your case, forgive, and it is up to you whether you go on or let it go. But do not let it hurt you.

Simply put: The truth will remain the same no matter the source. A rumor changes as sure as the sun rises in the morning and sets in the evening.

I go to the person the rumor is about and ask them, if that is it is a rumor of someone I care about.
If the person doesn't want to answer this is there business. Dating someone is not a serious thing. If it is more then dating this is a different story, at least in my eyes.....Go to the person and ask them is the rumor is true, and be ready for the answer not to go in your favor.

If you hadn't heard the rumor, would your thoughts be any different? If you learn to trust a person, all the gossip in the world will become meaningless.

Well I think the best way to separate truth from gossip is one common sense and two evidence. If no evidence one would need to research.

truth and gossip separate by themselves... truth is eternal and gossip is temporary and it's constantly being modified by others... so don't worry... because truth is like poop, it will always find its way to the surface... lol...
