Scholarships are given year to year. There is no 4 year contract.

All you have to do is go and find some players who had career ending injuries in college...many of them lose their scholarships because they can't play anymore...you mainly see this in football, but it's reality.

I hope that someday we see the NCAA change how they treat athletes...it is one of the most abusive systems in modern day America

Dear UKBigBlu,

The reason they don't have to repay scholarships back is because they are not under contract. They are eligible for a scholarship for 4 years, but if they leave say after their freshmen year- they only got 1 years worth of scholarship. On top of that collegiate athletes that are good enough to leave early- have done their part to make a ton of money and to publicize the program.

Hope that helps.

P.S.: I'm a UK diehard, who do you think is replacing Tubby?

They didn't get four years worth of value. They got however many years they actually played college ball. The college can give that scholarship to another player if they want, so it's not really like they college is losing the value of the scholarship.
