When other people start to get mad at you for knowing answers to questions that give them trouble.

Well, you could do well in school or on tests, but that's not necessarily proof. You could have other people tell you that you're intelligent, but that's subjective too. You could be a good problem solver, creative, talented, witty, able to fix things, figure things out...Things may come easier to you than they do to others. I think you just know. When you're smart though, you also realize that there is more to know than you can ever know. You have a thirst for knowledge. You have a natural curiosity & eagerness to learn. You are always thinking & trying to figure things out.
I think if you're asking the question, you're probably smart. If you weren't, it wouldn't occur to you to think about it. Neurotic people tend to be smart! :)

You're smart when you believe you are. Smart is simply a comparison of intelligence. In other words, a person who speaks only french is an idiot in America. But a person who knows the semantics of historical events is a genius at a museum, and so on.

you will never now, unless many, not a few, but rather many individuals tell you that you are smart (not counting teachers)....
Why?
Because we might always think we know the right answer or that the right way of seeing things is ours (if we are not depressed)....
Then... Ask others... "in a average from 1 to 10, how would you rate my intelligence?"
So that you don't sound very cocky or so that they will tell you the truth rather than what you might want to hear... don't ask something like "do you think I am smart?"
I might answer yes to that question to a stranger ha!...
Just average your points and you will have a very realistic or maybe a little bit, but just a little bit positive grade of your intelligence...
Ask only people that know you well...
