Here is just an outline of my classes on which I do each week

Monday: Piano (helps me improve my music skills"
Tuesday: Grade 5 RAD Ballet Exam, Pre Pointe class
Wednesday: Contemporary, Ballet
Thursday: Jazz, Tap
Firday: Grade 5 CSTD Tap, Grade 6 CSTD Tap, Contemporary troupe class

That's about 11 hours of dance a week!

This will be my 11th year of studying dance, and I will be turning 14 in June!

I would appreciate answers from dancers or just anyone really!

This is a question only you can truly answer. If dance is your passion then you will want dance as much as you can. You will look forward to going to as many classes as you can, in order to become a better dancer. You will strive to achieve better technique, better form and become a better performer. You will live and breathe dance....IF it is your passion.
If not.....well then you'll just be bothered by your schedule and wish you had more time for other things.

sounds like you are busy! no one can really say how much or how little you should be dancing. it all depends on the person: how passionate you are about dance, what your body can handle and what else is going on in your life. if you are looking at becoming a professional dancer though, it looks like you're on the right track. two ballet classes a week is key! if you were to add any class, i would suggest taking another ballet. if you are looking to compare yourself to another intensive dancers schedule here's mine:
Monday- Ballet 5, Pointe 2
Tuesday- Jazz 5, Senior Repertory Company Jazz
Thursday- HipHop 5, Lyrical, Ballet 5
Friday- Sr. Rep. Co. Lyrical, Tap 5, Sr. Rep. Co. Tap
Saturday- Ballet 5, Solo Rehersal
That all works out to 13 hours a week but then I am a teacher's assistant for an additional 8 hours a week. I will be 17 in two months and have been dancing since I was 3. Hope this helps you out! Keep dancing and keep smiling :)

Are you feeling like it is too much? Did someone ( a friend or parent) say you are devoting too much time. A friend might feel neglected and a parent might feel you are neglecting other things. You are devoting too much to dance if your grades are suffering or if your family time is nonexistent. If your Friends feel neglected decide how important they are to you. Remember family, and school first then dance and friends. Maybe you feel over whelmed by being pushed into something you do not enjoy. If you are spending 11 hours on something you do not enjoy then yes you spend too much time. If you intend to be a dancer then no it is not too much. Many people spend that much time and more for their life's dream.Only you and your parents can tell how long is too long or too short.

i think its awesome that you take piano. and i also think you have a good amount of classes. i'm on my high school dance team and also dance at a studio so between those two i dance 14 hours wich i think is pretty good to but i'm not going to be a proffessional dancer because you don't earn enough money so ya!! umm i mean some girls at my dance studio dance around 20 to 25 hours of dance a week. i mean these girls have their heart set on dancing all their lives and they practically live at the dance studio. they eat, and do homework there. if they had time they would probably take naps there too.

i think dancing is so great!

do you feel that your week is too overwhelming? If you do, cut down a little so you will have "me time." If not, continue dancing!!

just make sure that your grades are always up and dance doesn't get in the way of it.

I'd concentrate on one form of dancing if I were you. You're tuning 14 meaning you have to decide whether or not you're serious about it. 11 hours of dance is good, but when it's all over the place it's not taking you very far.

my fiance was in ballet for 13 years, grade school through high school and loved every second of it! i only wish i had the time to devote to my dancing like that. if this is truly something you love, and the rest of your life(school, friends, family, "me time", etc.) doesn't seem neglected, don't stop. you might regret it later in life.

To be really good at something - you need to focus on just the ONE thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you take classes, for different dance styles, then you're really not going to understand everything bucause you're too busy worrying about steps from other classes.
