Why does it matter how you die?

Dead is dead. There will be no memory of pain or suffering. So it shouldn't matter if one dies under torture or when sleeping.

Personally, i tend to think in the "Here and Now" If i were to find out somehow, that i was going to die 20 years from now in a long and painful battle with cancer, i probably wouldnt get too worried about it, until 15 or so of those years had passed.

As a rule, i avoid pain. Its....painful, lol. Sure, there's the "afterwards" when it wont really matter whether or not i died a painful death. But, i still have to go through that painful death experience to get there.

Well I'd rather not suffer. I'd rather go peacefully in my sleep if I had the choice rather than linger in physical torment. Yes, after you're dead it doesn't matter, your soul moves on to a better place anyway, but while you are alive even right to the end, you would prefer a better quality of life. No one wants to suffer.

You feel the pain while you're still alive...no one would want to suffer for months with cancer, or unable to breathe...no one would want to feel moments of stabbing or burning to death. Going during sleep is most peaceful. Unless you're nuts...no one wants to suffer

how you die is not your concern but of the ones you left behind. in every death, a civilization dies--so the saying goes, but your name affects the living; history affects everybody. either honor or disgrace will spell the difference

Yeh but while you're still living you're gonna feel the torture real bad.
Most ppl, dunno about you, want to die with dignity.
