Because its human nature to be clones ----myself I rarely wear anything matching just because I like colour and not because I want to be different or the same just BECAUSE, I honestly don't think there are colours that "don't go together" and hell if people wanna laugh I say knock your socks off.
My son has a t-shirt that I love it says.... "You laugh because I'm different....I laugh because your all the same"
Perfect hey? I've never understood why people feel the need to look like everyone else (comfort, a sense of belonging, self confidence maybe I guess) even like these kids now that are EMO---(not to pick on them but...)
1) they are exactly what and how the group of kids I hung out with in highschool some 20 years ago were like. (p.s. I piss my teenager off big time by calling myself the original EMO, old school style.LOL)
2) they ALL dress, act, listen to music, etc the same---they are clones of themselves unyet they feel different!!! I don't get it.
The same could be said for preps or jocks or rockers. CLONES!!!
Anyway MisMatch, Uncoordinate, Mix and Match colour
look like Rainbow Bright or Punky Brewster for all I care JUST
be yourself AND love yourself, you'll be all the better for it!!!
IMHO

Colors that match are pleasing to the eye and more acceptable for interviews and such. Nature has a multitude of color, yes, but even a good landscaper will blend colors that go together. Unless you are wearing your school colors, so you match everybody in your school, I really don't think I would put, say, purple and orange together. Oops, I take that one back. In 1967, my husband bought me dark purple with orange paisley, super wide leg bell bottoms pants and a dark purple ruffled top. Ummm. That was pretty. But, you see, the top did go with the pants anyhow. Go figure. There are exceptions.

you dont have to it just looks better.
Their is a science behind colours and which ones compliment eachother and which dont... and which compliment your colouring.
You can wear lots of different colours together but they should compliment each other instead of clash.
You dont have to look like everyone else to wear colours that compliment ...its about what you buy and how you put your different pieces together to look like yourself. but doing it with out looking disstasteful.

if you're comfortable with it then go for it.....you are the master of your feeling, not others. As they say "Don't act anbody just to please anybody" right??as long as your comfprtable with your outfit than fashionable outfit its okay...
