Hi feyridz,

I think you overestimate the impact of the German Luftwaffe on Britain. Yes, they pummeled the East End of London, and did a number on Coventry, but by and large, they had no impact on the country as a whole. By 1941, British industrial output was greater by almost 50% than it had been in 1939. So the Germans had no effect on the industrial output of the nation.

Hitler couldn't invade Britain until he had control of the seas and the skies. The Royal Navy and the RAF prevented him from having these -- and I hasten to add -- they prevented Hitler WITHOUT the help of the US.

Also, please remember, by the Summer of 1941, Hitler invaded the Soviet Union, and this gave Britain a very powerful ally in her struggle. Even without US assistance, the combination of the Soviet Union and Britain would have eventually won the war. It would have taken years longer; but victory would have been ours regardless of the Americans.

Cheers.

If the Japanese had attacked only the British and Dutch colonies, they would have been initially more successful, but they would have eventually hit problems. Imagine the difficulty for them of conquering and holding all of India and Australia, for instance. (These were part of the British Empire in those days.) They had been heavily involved in fighting China, not very successfully, since the mid-1930s, and were desperate for raw materials. These would have been just as hard to get from mines and plantations destroyed by the colonial powers, with or without American involvement, as actually happened. The longer such a conflict continued, the higher the likelihood of some American involvement anyway. If that had been avoided, once Germany collapsed, which would have happened in the end, the Soviet Union would have come in against Japan as they did in 1945. Overall, the war would have lasted much longer, but the outcome would have been the same.

the war would have taken longer, probably much bloodier. In the end UK wins- it controls the seas and has much larger human and material resources. Also Brit bombing was far more effective than the Luftwaffe- due to many more and much heavier and longer range bombers.
IMO the war with the USSR was the tipping point in the European war.

We would have still won the War, we had been fighting it for quite a while before the US got involved, and, they were a great help, but we wouldn't have been defeated by Germany. The War may have gone on longer than it did, but we would have prevailed in the end.

Try reading some books from outside the US, you might learn something.

I would think the US would have gotten involved anyway.
