This is a controversial topic, as I'm sure you know. I think it it varies from one person to another how much they influence them as an individual. You will hear parents say that every child is different, and its true; every child is different from birth. I believe Nurture is, ultimately, more influential- in most cases. Some people I've known were very much guided by their nature and much less by nurture. It is my opinion that people of higher personal self actualization and achievement are guided by nature more than nurture. Nurture is what teaches most people (yes, most) that stealing is wrong. But it is Nature that discovered the atom, figured out E=MC^2 and sculpted David. Nurture is what enables us to live together in a society, but Nature is what has built that society. It is Nature that defines us. While I would say that Nurture is usually more influential, I would say that very often Nature is more important. Rather than answering your question, this has actually opened up to discussion a few more. You'll find though that usually (I do like saying usually, don't I?) an answer worth hearing tends to do that; create more questions.

Nurture is more influential, but you cant ignore nature. Nature doesnt just disapper with the right nurture

For example, there was a case when twins were born, but one was raised as a boy the other as a girl (i dont remeber the logistics of why they did this, but it was more than an experiement, there were actual resons)........ Anyways, point is that even the the boy was nurtured to be a girl, in the end, when he found out he chose to be a boy.

This means that nurture can only go so far.

They work hand in hand, you have to nurture within the confines that nature provides for you.

So, in essence nature sets the boundries for nurture, but nurture takes over and creates character, etc.

ha! you're not going to get a definitive answer to such a complex question as this with just a few paragraphs! but here's my two cents: i'd say nurture is more influential in human development. why? because nature has to do with the innate, raw capabilities of the individual but nurture has to do with the development of that potential. you can have a ferrari under the hood but without development, the "car" may only perform like a ford pinto! life deals us a hand over which we have no control. what we do with that hand is where nurture comes into play.

on a personal note, i hope you'll nurture you're innate and unique skills and abilities. best wishes.

It depends on how you look at it. This is a pretty controvertial topic, and you're going to get answers from both sides. It's your call.

I believe it's nurture over nature.

human development is an interplay of both nature and nurture and if someone favors one strongly they probably dont realize what they are saying

our nurture can change our genes and our genes can change our nurture
