Unfortuantely, I can not elaborate too much on my question, but let me give you a glimpse. Suppose evolution was true; change does occur among species over time. Please explain to me why only monkeys, out of all the animals that evolved in the planets, developed the ability to think rationally. Why couldn't reptiles that evolved from millions of years ago develop the capacity for rationality? Please, explain!

I didn't post this on the Religion section because I thought I would get more atheists via the polls & surverys section...

I am sorry to announce that I have seen some incredibly stupid posts here. Animals are not rational, this just shows how much you know about the animals you supposedly examine for your evolution theory. Only rational animals are humans and monkeys. All other animals think about reproduction, surviving, food, etc.

Ronald S: You explained nothing. Furthermore, you tell me to go find the answers at a local library. But aren't you an atheist? Why don't you explain the answers me?

I've been asking the same question for years. And even if primates were the only ones to evolve, why haven't ALL of them evolved? Were the earlier monkeys that evolved into humans a different race of monkeys then the ones we have now? How could all the living organisms on the earth form from the big bang in the first place? And how would the monkeys that were on earth know what to do before they turned into humans? Why did humans stop evolving? Why can't any other species evolve? And if they could, what would THAT look like?

1. Not everyone who believes in Evolution is an atheist. Some are agnostics, some are theistic evolutionists, etc.
2. Who says only primates think rationally? What about Dolphins and Whales? Even octopodes show signs of rational thought.
3. Had certain events in Earth's history worked out different, something else may have evolved to fill the role that humans now fill. Why ask why the dice rolled a 5 instead of a 3?

You are a moron. Atheists have NOTHING to explain. The answers to your questions are readily available at your local library. The ideas of theists are the ones which demand explanation, not the other way around.
Allow me to add to my original answer above since the asker would like me to explain. Asker asks why reptiles couldn't develop the capacity for rational thought even though they evolved from millions of years ago. It wasn't that they necessarily COULDN'T, just that they DIDN'T or simply didn't need to. Yes, it is as simple as that. If you haven't noticed, there are many many species on Earth that have very unique abilities that are unique to that specific species. So far, these abilities have met the needs of that particular species and have allowed them to survive and/or thrive. Many animals have certain cognitive abilities and THEIR way of thinking meets the needs of THEIR species. We think the way we do because it has met OUR needs (as far as survival is concerned at least). Is it really that hard to believe? In nature there are many amazing and complex things, most of which can be learned about in books (I say most because we don't completely understand everything in nature yet). All of these amazingly intricate details does not suggest intelligent design by a divine creator. It is simply the way that it happened! Also, there is no need to "suppose" evolution was true. It has been rigorously tested using the scientific method and a proven fact. So why isn't it a scientific law? Because it doesn't fall into that category and will never "become" a law. Just google "scientific theory" and look for yourself if you are interested, I don't really want to explain.
P.S. I apologize for the moron comment. I wasn't myself at the time.

Being an evolutin theory believing atheist myself, I admit, that very thing is what keeps a tiny backdoor open in my mind to religion. Human beings are by far the most sentient beings on this planet. Although some other animals do show great signs of intellect and sentience, they in no way compare to the strange and completely unique cognitive melting pot of mentality that is mans mind. I do not conclude this to be spiritual, but I cannot hand it over to science either. Noone seems to have a convincing answer, so I'm on the fence about it. Good question.

in answer to your question one explanation could be that way back when the dinosaurs were destroyed by an asteroid the effects of the asteriod could have set back evolution for reptiles then and later monkeys and apes competed with reptiles and as the reptiles evolved so did the apes and they killed off the reptiles.or as no physical record has yet been fowha und it has been assumed that humans came out on top.that what leakey and others found was the end of that history. also bipeds do not have to be the only life form no.

Sorry for the blunt portrait able goddess but any man who
looks at a beautiful naked woman lying on a bed would
have to be an idiot not to believe in intelligent design. She
is absolute perfection and the two sexes are so coordinated
in their uniqueness and all other species are also except
for the imperfections that he designed into the system intentionally... Blessed are the pure of heart for they shall
see God..

I'n neither atheist, nor evolutionist.
The answer as to why humans are so much different from all the other creatures, is because of Design.
