I am just wondering. I am just an usual teenager who got so hook up to computer, causing me to have lack of sleep. My neighbor, who is a 60 years-old-man told me that lack of sleep in puberty period will affect your health when you got older. And I've heard it somewhere else too. I just want to know is it true? And if it is, is there any research that support this? Thank you for your answers =)

It can; mainly it can affect your mental health right now, your physical health right now (getting sick more often), and it also can reduce your final adult height.
We only grow in our sleep, and lack of sleep in your teen years can cause you to be shorter than you are meant to be.

I do not think it has long term effects, however sleep is very important - especially when you are in your teens.

You are still growing and you need to be well rested to face those days at school.

Don't worry I am sure you can catch up on weekends.

The average amount of sleep you should get is 8-10 hours a night (more towards 10).

Nope. Your sleeping habits change a lot as you get older. When you get to be 30 you'll start to notice subtle changes. When you get really old like 60's and 70's, naps are quite common but you tend to sleep less and rise early.

You are probably a puppy now, so don't worry about it until you're older. :) Staying active and physically fit helps a great deal with sleep no matter what age you are.
