I just got into CSI:Miami lately and watch it all the time! I just saw that in the 3rd or 4th season opener they killed off Speedle and I just was wondering why because I liked him a lot more than the new cocky ex-cop?

Speed, was played by Rory Cochrane, who apparently wanted out of the show because its lengthy shooting schedule interfered with his movie acting career.

Another reason given.......
In 2004, he grew tired of the medical and scientific terminology frequently used on "CSI: Miami" (2002), and asked to get out of his contract. CBS agreed, and his character, Timothy Speedle, was killed off.

He stated he did not want the character killed off, that way he could return for future episodes, but was told "you're leaving, we're killing the character."

hope this helps :)

He chose to quit by himself.
He said that the plot of the episodes were all the same and that he needed something different...
I liked him too but wait until you see who gets shot in Season 5...

From what I read back when he left, he wasn't happy with the direction his character was going. He was bored with it, probably, but did ask to get off the show. Yeah, I liked him too.
