Hold down the power button until your laptop is turned off. And then start it back if you want to. Pulling the plug off may not solve it as laptop runs on battery.

try force shutdown by keeping the power button down for a few seconds then you can reboot, you can use Alt+F4 to kill programs, Alt+Tab to switch programs, or you can try getting more ram.. that way you can have more processes and less lag... and it might just be because your laptop is weak? its your laptop so i cant really help all that much when it comes to power when I dont know its specs and stuff.

im guessing you should just go ahead and just shut the computer down by holding down the power button. When you restart, it should ask how you want to restart windows, and just chose the "last best known configuration" choice

Make another account....and in MY DOCUMENTS copy imp. data from old account to new account......and delete old account...
in this new account u r able to open task manager ( ctrl + alt +del )....
