ok i got one for ya,
get two punchbowls and a box fan, if possible, fill both bowls with dry ice, be careful not to touch dry ice with your bare hands!if not then just use regular ice, if you use dry ice make sure you can properly ventalate your room. cause when dry ice "melts" it goes straight from "ice" to CO2. anyways place one bowl full of ice behind the fan and one in front ant put the fan on the highest setting. if it works right with the dry ice you should be freezing your azz off in no time

preaching to the choir sister. if it's only going to be for two weeks, go ahead and tack blankets or bed sheets over your southern ( if you're in the northern hemisphere) and western facing windows, keeping your blinds turned so you look down on the ground, not up at the sun when you look out. this blocks the sun, and shade is cooler than non shade! keep the box fan blowing in the window, onto your bed during the night, and out the window during the day, if it is on the northern or eastern side of the house (northern = very little direct sunlight, eastern = morning sun versus afternoon sun) having the windows open at night will allow for cool breezes to freshen the air.
for the cats fill their water dish with ice water during the day, and keep the the bottom of the bathtub filled with cool water with the bathroom lights off during the day, giving the cats access to the bathroom. this will be the coldest room in the apartment, some thing having to do with the energy transfer from warm air and cool water. good luck!

I have used wet towels hanging in front of the fan letting the air blow across it and it will cool it a bit more.
I tend to just throw the wet towel over the fan in a way that at least half the fan is still showing when it blows.

put the fan in the window open your bedroom door & open a window from another part of the house! will drw cool air from there - leav it that way so you don't have as much heat gain during the day!
go to home depot & open a credit card account ( they usually have a special of a $ 50.00 gift card for doing so ), then purchase a 6 to 8000 btu window unit - ( around $ 100.00 maybe less ).... if you can't find $50.00 to do this , your priorities are messed up!

Keep the sun out at all times by closing all curtains, blinds, shutters, etc. But keep all your glass windows open just enough to create drafts through your apartment - keep interior doors open to encourage air movement.
Switch off all unnecessay electrical equipment, and invest in energy saving bulbs (they emit practically no heat). Minimize the use of halogen lights, as they will heat up your home beyond belief - and try to use only cotton bedlinen.

You can open the windows and put the fan in the window and have it facing inward.. you can also take a cold shower.
When you go to sleep, put both fans on you, or in the window, and only cover up with a sheet.

I have frozen gallon jugs of water and put in front of a fan and kept a wet wash cloth on my forhead, by shaking it you can cool the cloth off.

you should put fans in front of the windows facing you. it will help get rid of the heat. if it's still unbearable, try sleeing in water in the bath tub. also try a personal cooler to put around your neck, you can get one under $50. good luck
