My children's pediatrician gave me a recipe for a homemade saline solution that's safe for babys' noses:

1 cup lukewarm water
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda

use a dropper to squirt just a little up her nose, then use
bulb to suction. It should disolve snot & you don't have to
worry about getting out to go find something that works.

Also try using a humidifier at night to help prevent this from
happening again. Good luck!

The correct amount of salt you are aiming for is 8 grams per litre to make "normal saline" as it's called. Use a teaspoon measure of the kind that is used for cooking. Make sure it's clean and sterile (boiling water is a good steriliser). A teaspoon holds about 5 mls, so allowing for the density of salt, I find that a very slightly heaped teaspoon is perfect for a litre of water. A quart is close enough to a litre that you don't have to worry if that's what you have - just make sure it's a very full quart.

Hope this helps

Depending on what % of saline mix you want, to 99ml of water use 1g salt=1% saline, 98ml water to 2g salt= 2% saline. so I think the chemist mix is about 5 or 6 % so you would mix 95ml water to 5g salt for 5% saline or 94 ml water to 6g salt for 6% saline.
Hope this helps

stop panicking.

The whole point of the saline solution is to soften the boogers so they come out easier without damaging skin.

you can use normal water to do this.... how much salt is in the water doesnt really matter - its not some scientific booger remover water that will make her nose colapse if you mess it up.

If you have a cup full, just add a pinch or two. too much salt may dry her skin a little.

excellent, 2 many years in the past I had a son who did not stay to tell the story. many human beings tried to tell me it grew to become right into a blessing because of the fact via being born so early he could have had many disabilities. yet I used to artwork in a nursing domicile and observed dozens and dozens of persons in the 90s or maybe over one hundred who did not understand who they have been or the place they have been and a number of different funds grew to become into being spent on their care. additionally, there have been adolescents in comas for the reason that they had had below the impact of alcohol driving injuries or regardless of. So I felt that if society grew to become into going to maintain all those human beings alive, who had already enjoyed long, complete years, that society would desire to maintain my infant alive. because of the fact how do all of us understand that some thing heavily isn't chanced directly to help those babies? final night somebody asked wasn't infanticide an substantial area of survival of the fittest, and used the classic Spartans as an occasion. there is an ethicist at Princeton college who reportedly thinks this is going to be criminal to coach infanticide on any infant youthful than 28 days old with a view to eliminate ill or undesirable babies from society. So we are shifting as a society in that direction.

Call the switchboard at your local hospital and ask to be put through to the inpatient pharmacy. The pharmacist on duty should be able to give you the information you need.

I would`nt risk making it myself. Its safer to buy it because they have prepared it correctly.
