Taking folic acid regularly helps to prevent spina bifida and is recomended from 3 mts before you conceive until after the 1st 3 mts in pregnancy. Eating a healthy diet with lots of fruit and vegetables should get you in good condition before you conceive. Oily fish is very good for you as it contains omega 3 which is good for your baby's brain. Green vegetables and red meat are a good scource of iron which is also good during pregnancy as you may get anaemic and I know from experience that it makes you feel awful! Apparantly liver should be avoided as it contains a lot of vitamin a which can be harmful when you're pregnant. Also other things to avoid when you are pregnant are soft cheeses, pates and anything with raw eggs. This is due to the risk of food poisoning! Good luck and I hope this has been useful! I have 5 kids and have read virtually every pregnancy book under the sun!

The most important thing is to take folic acid at least 0.4mg daily. If your doctor gives you a prescription for prenatal vitamins, it will be included.

Go over a list of your current medications with your doctor, and make sure they are safe to take, in case you take them before you find out if you're pregnant. Some are not safe, like the acne drug Accutane. Don't worry too much about your diet, as long as you eat a pretty balanced diet anyway. Don't drink too much alcohol, though. My doctor told me not to eat sushi when you are pregnant, so you may want to avoid that.

Good luck ttc!

eat healthy, be active, be a good weight etc... take a prenatal vitamin when you start trying to concieve, dont drink alcohol, smoke etc.. when you start trying only use tylenol not advil/asprin/ibuprofen etc... as they can cause bleeding, have a preconception check up with a dr if you wish, get a pap, etc... make sure that all other medications you are on are approved by a dr for use during pregnancy, dont use dietary supplements, eat well balanced meals.

Folic acid. Quit smoking and reduce alcohol intake.
Also follow a low carb diet as this sets a good trend for when your pregnant and the risk of gestational diabetes comes.

in case you have taken it as stated and characteristic not taken any meds that intrude with it, you ought to not be pregnant. while women get pregnant on an identical time as on the pill, it particularly is often because of the fact of interference in taking it properly or the medicine. once you're taking the pill for a rapid time, your "classes" ought to cut back. in certainty, they are actually not easily classes in any respect. it particularly is what's noted as "Withdrawal Bleeding". there is not any reason to have a era in any respect while on the pill. maximum pills in basic terms have an element in them for a withdrawal bleed because of the fact it makes women greater mushy. you will get on a pill that forestalls any bleeding what so ever in case you like. in case you have a tendency to rigidity a lot, it does not harm to apply a 2d beginning administration approach. Like condoms, or the sponge. it rather is not needed in case you're taking the pill properly, inspite of the undeniable fact that it particularly is great to have back up strategies incase some thing interrupts your pills.
