My son had a hard time with gas, and was exclusively breastfed too. It can be so hard, I know, to listen to them cry!
First, make sure he stays upright after eating, even if asleep, until he's burped.
Try Mylicon or other gas drops (simethicone, completely harmless)
Some people think that food that you eat affects gas in the baby (broccoli, onions, cabbage). However, www.kellymom.com disagrees.
Try massage and 'working' his legs. Give him a warm bath (NOT hot), dry him off, then in a comfortably warm room lie him on his back. Rub, fairly firmly, in circles over this tummy, always clockwise (think of how his digestive tract is arranged - you're trying to encourage gas to move through his large intestines mostly). Move his legs in a running motion, then bicycling - we played a 'game' (mostly to keep me entertained and keep him hearing my voice). I'd sing-song "Running running running running! Where shall we run to? Granna's house? That's a long way! Run run run run run run run! Whew, that's hard work, how about biking? Bike, bike, bike, bike, bike!" Sounds silly, but it's just the two of you. Bend his knees and push them (gently, but harder than just a bend) against his tummy.
I hope that helps!

Think about what you are eating that might be causeing gas in the baby's belly. Talk to your doctor about foods that can cause gas.
There is an over the counter medication that helps with gas in a baby.
Make sure baby is well burped. Some babies need to be purped before nursing, while nursing and after nursing.

my 5 week old seems to get a lot of gas and is hard to burp iv tried the drops mention in the above answers and they didn't work well. my son also spits up a lot and has had his formula changed to something with added rice starch but he didn't like that. He has gerd (acid reflux) and was put on gaviscon by his doctor. if your son still has a lot of gas ask his doctor. you may need to change something in your diet (garlic) can pass through your milk and give your son gas, so can others. or your son maybe given something to help. a lot of times its something you ate or drank.

oh yeah, she is probably eating something that is not agreeing with him....lots of strong foods are not good for babies bellies....such as garlic, onions, major spices......
there is Mylecone gas drops (spelling?) you can buy and give to them at every feeding. if its you thats breastfeeding then elieminate these things out of your diet and see if that helps. I'm not sure if your a guy or girl....sorry!
that should clear up lots......VERY rarely babies are allergic to breast milk......but its REALLY rare.....caffene is also not good for baby and could cause gas.......sometimes its just colic and thats something you'll have to stick it out with....
GOOD LUCK!!!!:)
