its an app for an internship at an animal rehabilitation center, and i cant think of anything good to write for special skills. any basic skills i have that i cant think of, dont really have anything to do with the position (computer skills, artistic ability...) any ideas for what i can put here? (general bs is ok)

also, any ideas what to put for prior experience with animals? other than having a dog, i have none.

It seems that you need to know more about the internship offered at the rehab center. What is the job being offered? What is expected from the person holding the job? Do they expect the person to be skilled in animal treatment, or simply they just need somebody to run admin tasks?

The best thing to do is to give them a call, and ask for details about the internship. If they look for someone with veterinarian background, then unfortunately you cannot apply for the position. If they look for someone who are happy to work with animals, then you have a chance.

After you get enough details and you decided that you still have a good shot at it, then try to sell your competencies. For example: Ability to follow up on your tasks, ability to handle pressure, ability to solve problems, ability to work with other people, ability to quickly learn new things, etc. It doesn't have to do with technical skills you have, but with how you interact with your surroundings. People often value competencies more than technical skills.

Prior experience with animals? I suppose having a dog is actually means quite a lot, assuming that you take care of it yourself. That means you can be responsible for an animal, and you know how to make sure that it's well kept.

As a former vet tech I would say that you enjoy working with animals and you realize there are many "dirty" jobs that go along with animals and you are prepared to clean cages, walk dogs, give medicines, Help change bandages, sweep and mop floors if necessary.
The one thing I WOULD NOT say is that I LOVE ANIMALS! There are so many people that do love animals and that is fine, but with that statement in the world of medicine for animals it basically means you will not be able to cope with euthanasia if necessary and you might have problems with pain in animals, doing procedures that may temporarily make an animal uncomfortable, but necessary and I think people in the field of animal medicine stay away from people who say Oh, I just love animals. I hope this helps.

Well... I am only 16... but I have a job at Target. I dont know about the place you are applying at, but Target had their employees take a personality test. So, its pretty straight forward. I just answered the questions that they wanted to hear. Here is an example.

I work well with other people.
***Strongly Agree***

People who work slow frustrate me.
***Strongly Disagree***

Thats how the questions were. Other than that, I would just be honest about personal expierence and other information. Hope I helped.

Not just any general bs.
Must be something logical and sensible. If you were in the other person's shoes will you accept it. ?

Tell of your interest and LOVE or hobby about animals.
If you still can't find any excuse or interest to write then look for other area. Even if you get it you'll regret it you whole life.

Tell them you love animals and are eager for the experience of working with them.

It has to be the truth, why else would you intern at an animal recovery clinic??

Mention you dog, and how important he is to you.

And don't sell yourself short.Good luck.
