how in the matrix story do the enslaved humans procreate to be used as energy?

I was watching some of the animatrix and i was wondering if anyone knew how the robots made the humans procreate. since they are all in the matrix and in tubes there is no real contact so how can they have children and so on?

If you think back to the first movie, Morpheous tells Neo that human beings are no longer born, they are grown. The endless fields they talk about is where the machines grow the humans. No one has been born for a long time, except for the some of the people in Zion. If the people were born, they would have no plugs, so they could not be harvested for energy. The whole reason the Matrix exists is to keep the truth from the humans. That is the only reason it was created.

According the "The Second Renaissance Part II", once the machines had dominated the majority of the humans, they studied everything about the human body, the mind, the nervous system, the skeletal structure - everything.

Naturally, one would assume that they had also studied the human reproductive system. Being that it is a science-fiction film, and set in the future, it can be deduced that eventually the machine would be capable of developing a means of creating human embryos and allowing them to develop into full-grown, adult humans outside of the normal mother's womb.

I would assume they use a form of in vitro fertilization.

The humans who naturally grow old and die are liquefied and fed intravenously to those that are young and still plugged into the Matrix.
