Those that invented this paradigm you are referring to believe in the motto "If God did not want them sheared, He would not have made them sheep."

You can own the title or deed as long as you pay your taxes , the real question should be if the city or county controls the land , why do we have to buy it from a private real estate firm who has jacked the price way higher than what the city or county assessment states as value for tax purposes . why do we not just buy it from the county or city , it would be a fraction of what is paid through real estate agents. , basically you occupy the property as long as you pay the county for allowing you to occupy the property in their jurisdiction , your taxes pay for your police , fire , and rescue protection , plus your waste management , and it funds the schools in your area , I don't complain though , I have 10 acres , with a 2600 something square foot house that cost 60,000 in 1994 , and do not pay more than $675.00 for property taxes . all roads are ,and stay well paved, all schools are brand new up to date schools ( 3years old ) , our tax money is well managed here ,of course I can't remember having democrats in local office either, even in state government , which is why our sales tax is only 3% of food and groceries , and 5% on everything else...Plus I do not owe but two more years on my house so I do not complain about stuff like that ... power bill is around 80-100 dollars per month , and water is 15 - 20 dollars every two months ...So I would say I am pretty free here, as long as I pay my dues to society.....You are free , but it does have a price ...........They won't kill you to take it from you , they give you a chance to pay the taxes , which funds county, and city public services or they will seize your property , there is something you can do to become an independant township , but you can not use their police , or fire services or other public services , you will be out of the area to use their schools you would have to establish your own everything including power service ,and cable because those companies may not wish to service an additional township for just one person. ..but you would not have to pay your taxes to them . I forget the proper term for doing such a thing , but you can do it .. it will cost more than the taxes could ever cost though.

That's just how the government operates. Your land is yours because they say it is and they can change their mind whenever they want. Kind of like how the Mafia says that you are free to operate your business as long as you pay your protection money, but you stop and you'll run into some problems.
