Brahman is the unchanging, infinite, immanent, and transcendent reality which is the Divine Ground of all matter, energy, time, space, being, and everything beyond in this universe. The nature of Brahman is described as transpersonal, personal and impersonal by different philosophical schools. The word "Brahman" is derived from the verb brh (Sanskrit meaning: to grow), and connotes greatness.
The dictionary meaning of "brahman" is as follows.
Noun: brahman
1. A member of a social and cultural elite especially a descendant of an Old New England family
2. A member of the highest of the four Hindu castes
3. The highest of the four main Hindu castes: the priestly caste
4. Any of several breeds of Indian cattle; especially a large American heat and tick resistant grayish humped breed evolved in the Gulf States by interbreeding Indian cattle and now used chiefly for crossbreeding

brahmin means brahma putra. they will called as gods first prefered son.and they are the first means highest religion in our country. after them kshtriyas(king) then vishnavas, yadhavas,sudhras. Brahmin are top most people. they treate as god in those days. they can do any thng in they want . but they treate others as untouchables. and they are the only persons who will touch the gods in temple. no one is allowed to touch the gods and godess in temples.
they know mantras for every thing.for eating to sleeping their will b mantras. so they are some what powerful than us. but not all brahmins people who knows and learns mantras.
so they are called leaders of human race. brahmin are not good in north india . most of the brahmin are from south India. i mean more brahmins.
