Hey, I know how to shift gears when you're driving faster. but I have a question, when you are in gear 4 and you want to slow down to turn, how do you know when to shift to gear 3? It doesn't show you does it? Because I know you shift from 3 to 4 because it is near the red line. But I have no clue how to shift from 4 to 3.

The speedometer on most cars with standard transmissions have 8 small dots beside various numbers. These dots represent the optimal shift points for up and down shifting to maintain maximum fuel economy. When the speedo needle falls below the second last dot, it's time to down shift from 4 to 3 so the engine doesn't labor.
