I can't get too hooked on TV bc I'm starting dental school up soon and I get obsessive VERY easily. I'm looking for a poll of the ONE best show on TV in your opinion so I can check it out. I can't handle more than one :P Seriously, just your favorite. Thanks

"House M.D." on FOX

It's witty, funny and Hugh Laurie (who plays Dr. Gregory House) is charming and such a fantastic actor.

Ugly Betty. Very smart and funny.

Betty Suarez is smart, sweet and hard working. The only problem is that she's not thin and beautiful like all her coworkers at Mode, the high-fashion magazine where she works. The only reason the publisher hired her to be his son's secretary, is that he thought Betty was someone who Daniel would never sleep with. Betty's hard work and determination earns Daniel's respect, as she helps him find his way through the shark infested waters of the fashion industry. Ugly Betty is based on a Columbian telenovela "Yo Soy Betty La Fea". Written by Peter Kevin Reeves

watch something like Flip This House, or 1 vs 100, or Deal or No Deal... something that doesn't continue into the next week (athough the game shows might sometimes)
There are many programs on the Learning Channel, Travel Channel and Discovert Channels that have these type of shows.

wow. someone sure went crazy with the thumbs down!

I was going to list mostly shows others have listed already.
So instead I'll give you a little description on the shows I watch that others have already listed. (i'm looking for work right now so watch a lot of TV,lol, at least it comes in handy for something).

Grey's Anatomy - Nightime drama. Also very funny. Doctor's show about surgical interns. It is VERY addicting. To get caught up you would want to rent the first two seasons on DVD. Great choice.

House - About a doctor who specializes in solving difficult cases. Each week is a medical mystery. The character who plays house is very talented. He doesn't relate to his patients as people, only as puzzles. And is a little addicted to pain meds. Also a Great Choice.

NCIS - This is a criminal investigation show. It is about Navy Investigators. The characters are what makes the show, the actors are great and the charcter development is awesome.
My favorite, all time, TV character (besides Fox Mulder) is Abby from this show. Also a Great Choice.

Law & Order:Special Victims Unit - This is a criminal investigation and court show. They investigate special victims crimes such as rape and then prosecute the perps. It is a very good show. Also a Great Choice.

CSI - Probably the most famous criminal investigation show. It is about crime scene investigators, has a lot of forensics in it. The characters have their own subplots as well. There are three different CSI shows (CSI, CSI Miami, and CSI New York). I would say a good choice (not necessarily great in my opinion).

Smallville - This show has to be nearing it's end but maybe not. It is about Superman (Clark Kent) as a teen. You might want to rent the old ones to get caught up. It is very entertaining. Also a Great Choice.

Ghost Whisperer - The main star of this show is Jennifer Love Hewitt. She can see spirits who have not yet passed to the other side. She has to help them pass over. This usually involves figuring out why they are here then having them talked to love ones through her. It seems cliche but actually it is done very well. Also a Great Choice.

Criminal Minds - This show is about serial killer profilers. Their profiling can be very interesting. The only problem is tha some of the characters are more annoying than anything else, not well developed. I would say good choice, not great, in my opinion.

Scrubs - This is a comedy. It is very funny. It is about surgical and emergency room interns. New take on a doctor show. Also a Great Choice.

24 - I hate this show. It is long and drawn out and tedious. I don't know how many times the main character has died already. It is a show about stopping threats to the country and president.

Heroes - Unfortunately I don't get the channel heroes comes on but I have already put it in my Netflix Q. I want to see it desperately. I have heard only good things. It is about a group of people who slowly realize they have super powers. The powers develop over time. You probably want to get caught up to watch this one as well. Also a Great Choice.

Prison Break - I don't like this show. My 17 year old brother likes it. It is about two brothers who got put in prison. The first one was put in for killing the president's wife or vice pres. or someone important. He said he didn't do it so his brother purposefully got himself put in that prison to help him break out because he helped build the prison. They already broke out once so really I don't know why the show is still going.

Office - I seen this once and couldn't stand it. I hear it is very funny.

Seinfield and Golden Girls are both very old and they are not making new episodes anymore. Although they are entertaining I wouldn't reccomend.

Two shows that are popular that users forgot to mention:

Jericho - It's about a town named Jericho and it's residents. The U.S. was bombed and a new set of governments are taking over. The people in Jericho have to figure out how to survive without supermarkets, without gas, and figure out what is going on in the country. Quite entertaining. Also a Great Choice.

Bones - This is about forensics. The main character is a woman who can look at a person's bones to help solve a crime. She partners up with a cop and they do the whole crime thing. The bones woman is very scientific and unemotional while the cop is the opposite, acts on guts etc.
Also a Great Choice.

And to add one comedy:

The New Adventures of Old Christine - The main character is Julia Louis Dreyfus (Elaine from the show Seinfield). It is a comedy about a single mom. It is my favorite comedy right now. It is so great!

All these shows come on regular TV and on Cable.

Let us know what you choose. Good Luck!

For drama, watch Law and Order: Special Victims Unit on NBC at 10 pm.

For comedy, watch Monk on USA at 10 pm. Unfortunately, it's between seasons right now, but they're showing reruns until new episodes start in the summer.

if you want a cult classic that can only be found on DVD (so it can be watched whenever) about high school in an unconventional light, look to FREAKS AND GEEKS. plus there are only 18 episodes to be obseesed with. it truely is the best series ever. if however you dont want to shell out $60 bucks for something you have never heard of, look to Scrubs for comedy or House for drama.

I think it depends on if you want to be informed or if you want to be entertained and when you are able to watch tv. I take since you watch no tv, you probably do not have a pvr, so you're viewing opportunities will be limited anyway. And you probably do not have cable because it would be a waste of money.
