connect using a crossover cable and make network ids like

first computer XXX.YYY.ZZZ.qqq ( eg. 192.168.1.1 ) subnet mask 255.255.255.0

second computer XXX.YYY.ZZZ.lll ( eg. 192.168.1.2) subnet 255.255.255.0

you should be able to connect

Ok
Connect the lan cable betweek both the computers and:



step1: got network setting in control panel and open LAN by right clickin-goto properties.

step2.select internet protocol TCP/ip Properties
step3: select the following ip address

ip address for comp 1st: 192.168.0.1
ip address for comp2nd: 192.168.0.2
subnet mask same for both 255.255.255.0

Now restart both and the lan is active. Make sure the lan is enabled.
If you still have problems. disable the firewall in control panel.

1)..see,,if you create an workgroup then you need to keep the workgroup name same in both of ur pc's.
2)...Give ip address of same in both the pcs eg:192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2;
3)...plus make a cross over cable connection between your computers..use cat 5 or 6 cable for that
