Depends on the person, and even more on the situation. The question I ask is: Is there any particular reason to lie in this situation?
If they want to, are they able to? Could anyone else verify/contradict this person's story?
How does it affect me if they're lying? Does it change my life at all?

I believe most people are essentially honest. I also believe that they don't like to hurt other people and may say things in a way to avoid hurting their feelings that may ot be completely honest.
So until I have good reason not to, I believe what they say.

Overall I say I believe 14% of what is said to me. This percentage is based on the fact that what I say is 86% bullshit.

Depends on the teller. Parents....100% Others....I'll think then decide whether they are telling the truth or not. I can't believe any body so easily.
