If I took a very large Trebuchet and launched a car at a 747 in mid take off, could I ground it?

Well, if my calculations are correct, and believe me I crunched all the numbers many times, then if you hit it, you would in fact ground it.

If you launched it with sufficient force and managed to hit a critical part of the 747, you could prevent the takeoff or crash the plane, but that's very unlikely. It's unlikely that you would even hit the 747.
