I would like to learn how to dance salsa formally. I know that there are free salsa classes in town, but I do not want to do a lesson for free.

I teach salsa. Honestly, I enjoyed teaching group classes instead of a personalized instruction. I have been teaching for more than three years now and my students learn a lot more in group classes. I find salsa instructions on a one-on-one basis boring. In group class, you discover each other's mistake. You got feedback from your classmates, aside from myself. Of course, I got paid more in personalized instructions. But for me, dancing is all about fun. I want you to have fun while you learn. You are not getting it when you have a personalized lesson. So, I would suggest that you come to my class. Besides, I teach salsa in three levels - solo (suelta), partner dancing (salsa parejas), and group (rueda de casino). The fun part is dancing rueda. It is only me who teach this here in Manila. So, if you are interested, come to the address below. This Saturday, March 31, is the start of Session 1 for beginners at 6 pm. Also for advance, I will be teach the various complicated turns of Pasea at 7 pm. Fee is only 1,000.00 pesos for the next 4 saturdays.

The cost of hiring personal dance instructor to teach salsa is 2,500.00 per hour. Minimum wage earner in Manila got paid only 385.00 pesos a day (8 hours of work!). That means, about less than six thousand pesos of take home pay! You must be at least earning 20,000.00 monthly to afford a personalized instructor. I don't think average wage earners can afford that!

There is however 2 affordable classes I know. One is in Makati at 186 Dance Studio. Salsa class, is roughly about 1,500.00 pesos for 4 sessions.

Another one is in Malate at 1,000.00 pesos a month, and workshops every Saturday. Try to go to the website and you'll see more

I agree with Salsa Hermano. Join his class. I am attending his class too. Also, his group is very accomodating. Even if I am just a new student, they invited me to their party and our teacher dances with us too. Sometimes, we got bonus lessons too. Also during saturday classes, you can practice till you drop! I mean, we were just suppose to stay for the class for an hour beginners class. But then he told us we can practice which lasts for about 3 more hours. Its fun too especially dancing rueda.
