A few reasons.
In Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, etc, the leagues are decent, but if you an aspiring young soccer player with some good talent, where are you gonna be able to show it better, at some 10,000 seat stadium in Sao Paulo, and just a Brazilian auidence on TV, or a 60,000 seat mega stadium in London, with the world watching?
In the USA and Canada, its just that if you want to play sports, Baseball, Football (of the American kind), Basketball, and Hockey is where the money is at. Unless you are a very special talent, a soccer player will not really get noticed.
Part of it (like your Latin and South American countries) has to do with money, coverage, etc. and part of it (USA, Canada) is that most are really interested into other sports before soccer.

you think the mexican league is a joke??? do you watch any games?? if you think the mls is better than the mexican league either you don't watch mexican soccer or you don't know anything about the sport.....
if you say the dc united vs. chivas game last week..... the superior team by far was the mexican team regardless of the 1-1 score!!!!!!!! a blind man could see that!!!!!

I think your question isn't worded correctly.
The level of soccer in our country is what it is. We don't claim to be on a level with the prestigious premier leagues of the world, but it is all we have right now.
Instead of knocking it, perhaps you could lend us your expertise in such a way so as to improve our quality of home grown talent. If you can't do that, then don't engage in knocking something that you don't watch anyway. You should be content with what you have.

Well, The Europeans live on soccer [football]. The Americans don't know how to play any real sports. just one's that they can get their asses kicked [American football]. But they can play baseball. I wanna see any european come over to america and play basketball, baseball or football and see who'd win. Europe is just soccer. Over in America it's varied.
